Fally Ipupa, the Congolese rumba star, returns with a fresh new record called “Solitaire” off his new album. The track arrives as part of XX : Délirium, the ambitious 2026 body of work. It follows earlier tastes of the project, yet still carries its own weight.
The writing leans inward rather than outward. Where rumba often thrives on the dancefloor and the crowd, this one turns the camera on the self. His tenor vocals carry that mood without fighting it.
Fally Ipupa has spent years moving between the club and the confessional, and “Solitaire” belongs to the second lane. Known as the “Prince of Rumba,” he built his catalogue through ndombolo, soukous and R&B. He made his public debut in 1997 at the age of twenty.
The album itself says plenty about his range. Not every song on a project this size is built to be a single. Some are there to show a different side of the same artist.
