The song belongs to a fifty-one-track project, so there is plenty around it. But this one keeps its focus narrow and warm. The melody carries the weight here, and the vocals never rush past the sentiment.
He is often called the Prince of Rumba, and that title rests on his tenor. Soukous, ndombolo, and rumba all sit in his background. Still, he has spent years building toward a wider sound, and recent albums like Tokooos II pushed that further.
On this record, though, the delivery stays measured. He lets the line breathe instead of chasing a high note. The arrangement stays simple too, so the devotion at the centre never gets buried. Love as purpose, love as joy — that is the ground he is working.
