Fally Ipupa keeps pulling from the deep well of Congolese rumba, and “Palabre” lands right in that tradition. The song sits on XX : Délirium, the album he built as a double project with fifty-one tracks spread across two discs.
“Palabre” holds track eight on disc one. Elektra France handles the release under Warner Music France, while the writing and vocals stay with Fally himself. He recorded it in Kinshasa and Paris, the two cities that have shaped his sound since the early 2000s.
Across his catalogue, he moves between rumba, ndombolo, soukous and R&B without losing his footing. That range earned him the Prince of Rumba tag and a Universal Music France deal.
The mood here is heavier than his dance-floor material. Disagreement sits at the centre of the song, and he sings it like a conversation rather than a performance. Rumba has always carried that kind of weight well.
