South African producer 031Choppa keeps his Run Jozi run rolling with “Bhepa,” a six-minute Amapiano workout.
The track lands as the sixth cut on the seven-track Run Jozi project. Mdeshkayro handles the street-focused vocal sections, while DJ Smallz and ZinedinexSguche add further collaborative weight to the arrangement.
At six minutes and forty-four seconds, “Bhepa” refuses to rush. Rolling log drums and dense percussion carry the groove, and 031Choppa’s electronic production instincts give the whole thing a darker edge. It is a record that trusts its own patience.
That range is nothing new for the man born Minenhle Lesley Mnguni. His catalogue moves between Amapiano and three-step, with credits alongside Zee Nxumalo, Pabi Cooper, Focalistic, Uncool MC, Shakes & Les and Djy Biza scattered across his discography.
Club sets will likely get the most out of this one. Still, it also says something about an artist more interested in building a body of work than chasing a single moment.
