Pasuma and Olamide link up on a fresh new record called “Ijo Alhaji,” putting two well-known Nigerian names on one track. The veteran Fuji singer brings his experienced vocals and familiar delivery, while Olamide holds up the street side of things.

What the song is really chasing is a good time. The setup is a meeting point between traditional Fuji and the contemporary street sound of Afrobeats and hip-hop. One side carries the old-school groove, and the other pulls it toward the dancefloor.

Pasuma did not stumble into this. His reputation rests on energetic performances and songs that travel across generations. He has also kept his sound open by working with artists outside Fuji. Olamide needs little introduction on the street-hop side, so the pairing carries weight.

Put them together and the record fits a wedding reception, a house party or a long drive just as well as it fits a playlist. It is another reminder of how easily Nigerian sounds cross borders these days.
