Zanefa Ngidi keeps his Maskandi catalogue moving with a fresh festive cut called “Happy Birthday,” featuring Phindile Buthelezi.
The record serves as the fifth and final track on Ngidi’s Oshiphigwebu EP. Instead of a standard birthday arrangement, the veteran artist builds the song around traditional Maskandi guitar picking, expressive vocal patterns, and lively Zulu folk chants. That production choice gives the celebration a distinctly South African feel while keeping the hook accessible.
Running at 3 minutes and 58 seconds, the song gives both voices room to trade warmth and personality. Buthelezi previously appeared on the EP with “Awuthi Veku,” so her chemistry with Ngidi already has a foundation here.
As a closing track, it lands on a cheerful note that fits the project’s energy. The blend of folk instrumentation and heartfelt vocals makes it an easy addition to any birthday playlist.
