Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi Declares his interest for the 2023 Presidential election

Former Governor of Anambra State, Peter ObI has declared his intention for the office of the Nigerian President if his party, Peoples Democratic Party (P.D.P) would choose him as the flag bearer.

 

Nigerian politician and businessman, Peter Gregory Obi, popularly known as Peter Obi, was the vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 Nigerian general election under the People’s Democratic Party (P.D.P).

 

Peter was the former governor of Anambra State serving from 17 March 2006 to 2 November 2006, when he was impeached and from 9 February 2007 to 29 May 2007 after his impeachment was overturned. Although a fresh election was held on 29 April 2007, he was reappointed governor on 14 June 2007 after a court ruling that he should be allowed to complete a four-year term. He won on 6 February 2010 gubernatorial election that made him governor of the state for the second time, seeing into his second term.

Peter Obi made his intention known via Twitter, he wrote saying…

Yes, I will step into the field to contest for the opportunity to serve this great country as President if my party, the @OfficialPDPNig, zones the ticket to the south. But if it is thrown open, Nigerians will also hear from me. -PO
