Yemi Alade links up with Teni on a fresh record called “Away,” a meeting of two Nigerian Afropop voices. The track lands as the thirteenth song on Yemi Alade’s album “It’s Yemi Alade.” Teni slides in with a different flavour, yet the record still belongs to the Afropop lane both women know well.

The album also carries “Overtake” featuring Jeriq, besides the unreleased “Alhaja” and “General Market.” Away sits deep in the tracklist, so it arrives with plenty of company around it. No producer credit has surfaced yet for this one.

Yemi Eberechi Alade built her name long before this album cycle. She won the Peak Talent Show, then signed with Effyzzie Music Group. Five studio albums sit behind her, including “Woman Of Steel” and “Rebel Queen.”

Two artists with their own lanes, meeting on one beat, says plenty about where Afropop is heading right now.
