Lovn steps forward with “BABY,” an Afrosounds record that places his voice firmly at the front. The Nigerian singer and songwriter built this one around feeling, not volume.
“BABY” arrives as part of SoundBender, the project carrying his debut EP run under Mavin Records. The song sits inside that body of work, and it follows a steady stretch of releases from him. Production keeps things lean here, so the vocal carries the emotional weight alone.
That restraint is the point. Lovn lets melody do the talking while the instrumental stays out of the way. His roots in fuji and apala also shape how he phrases a line. Even so, this is contemporary Afrobeats at its core.
He signed to Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records, and the demand around him keeps growing. Earlier work like “This Is LOVN” introduced his sound-bending approach. Besides that, he has written and appeared alongside names like Ayra Starr.
