Fans of Kirk Franklin have something new to enjoy with “Hope In You,” a cross-genre link-up with Davido. The record sits on Franklin’s album I Am What I Am, a 14-track double project made up of seven studio recordings and seven live performances. That split format matters here. The Davido link-up lands inside a body of work that moves between the studio and the stage, not a standalone single.

Musically, “Hope In You” puts Franklin’s choir-driven gospel style next to Afrobeats rhythms, while Davido brings his familiar vocal delivery into the mix. Two different worlds, one record. The album also carries appearances from GloRilla, Jelly Roll and Tobe Nwigwe, so the Davido feature is part of a wider guest list rather than an isolated experiment.

For Franklin, this is a gospel figure stepping further into contemporary African pop. For Davido, it is another outside-the-usual-lane credit. Neither move is small.
