Blaqbonez and Asake link up on a fresh new record called “IKEBE 3000,” a Nigerian dancefloor cut built for movement. The song arrived through Chocolate City Music, and it finds the rapper swapping his usual hard-edged posture for something looser.

That shift is the real story here. Blaqbonez doesn’t attack the beat the way he often does. He sits back in the pocket instead, lets the rhythm carry him, and sounds like he’s enjoying himself rather than proving a point.

There’s a playfulness to the delivery that suits the song’s upbeat direction. It’s a side of him we don’t hear often enough. Asake’s presence also gives the whole thing another layer of movement.

Blaqbonez, born Emeka Akumefule, hails from Imo State in southeastern Nigeria. He grew up around both Yoruba and Urhobo culture, partly because of his mother. These days he records under Chocolate City, the same imprint that once housed M.I Abaga.

For Blaqbonez, this is another example of his willingness to step outside the rap lane and meet a beat on its own terms. He has built a reputation on versatility, and “IKEBE 3000” adds to that.
