Blaqbonez has spent years pushing Nigerian rap forward, and “Sample Ekwe” still finds him back in that zone. The record arrives as part of his album NOMADINHO: 4TH PRIME, which landed on October 16, 2026 through Chocolate City Music.
Broad Day handled the production, while Blaqbonez shares composer credit under his real name, Emeka Akumefule. The title points straight at the ekwe, that wooden slit drum running through Igbo music. So the concept was clearly deliberate from the start.
He has been busy lately. BIG PERFORMER dropped in August 2026, and No Excuses Deluxe arrived earlier the same year. He also linked with Asake on “Chanel.” That run shows an artist still in demand.
What hits first here is the delivery. Blaqbonez rides the bass-heavy beat with that rapid flow fans know well. But he also slows his cadence in places, letting the percussion breathe underneath him. The result feels rooted rather than trendy.
