The song arrives exclusively on the CREAM platform before its wider global release across other DSPs, a rollout that puts the record in front of listeners in stages. It is an uplifting Afrobeats track, yet the Afro-Latino influence pulls it somewhere far from the template tied to his classic hits.
Instead of burying himself under the beat, he stays front and centre, carrying the melody while the rhythm section works underneath. That choice matters because the song lives or dies on his delivery, and he treats it that way.
For an artist with a career this long, the move makes sense. D’banj was the first recording artist signed to Mo’Hits Records, and later joined Kanye West’s G.O.O.D Music label in 2011. He also teased the record with a mariachi band, which tells you how far he was willing to push the sound.
