Fola and 2Baba link up on a fresh new record called “Crime,” a remake of a classic.
The song lands as the 11th track on FOLA’s sophomore album 9, which arrives this Friday, October 9. He samples 2Baba’s timeless love ballad directly, and the writing holds up well because the theme still cuts deep. 2Baba himself co-signed the cover in a recent video, calling FOLA’s vocals soft and smooth.
For context, FOLA is Afolarin Odunlami, a 25-year-old Afro-R&B act who broke through in 2022 with “alone.” He signed to Bella Shmurda’s Dangbana Republik and released his debut album Catharsis on 4 September 2025.
Sharing space with 2Baba is a strong look for him. It also says plenty about where he sits in the new generation of Afrobeats acts. The original has lived with listeners for close to two decades, so a remake carries its own pressure.
