Kolaboy keeps his run going with “Blessings,” a new record that brings REF MUSIC in for the vocal assist. It lands as track six on his 13-song album, “Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life (NND),” put out under Odia Records Limited. The project opens with “Nwa Nwanyi Deeper Life (Intro)” and closes on “Daalu,” where Hynezz appears.
The beat is the first thing you notice here. It leaves plenty of space, so neither voice has to fight the arrangement. Kolaboy handles the street edge while REF MUSIC rides the melody.
He is Nwodo Chinonso, known simply as Kolaboy, and he hails from Enugu State. Over the years, he has moved between raps and sung hooks without losing his footing. His catalogue includes “Kola from the East” and “Kolapiano,” plus a Flavour link-up on “Kola from the East.”
The production keeps things simple, which suits the song. Nothing gets buried under heavy layers, and the hook lands because of that restraint. It runs just under three minutes, yet it never feels rushed.
