South African vocalist Mlindo The Vocalist steps into gospel territory with “Ndembathe Nkosi,” a collaboration with vocal group Duduza Serenade. The single leads his upcoming studio album, INHLAWULO, and it arrives on October 23, 2026.
The song draws on indigenous South African gospel traditions. Its title is loosely translated as “Clothe Me, Lord” or “Cover Me, Lord,” and the lyrics centre on a prayer for divine protection and gratitude. Also referred to as “Ngembathe Nkosi,” it carries a worship-focused message throughout.
What makes this release different is the choral arrangement. For the first time, Mlindo The Vocalist recorded in the studio with a full choir. Duduza Serenade’s harmonies and a cappella elements meet his soulful vocal style, so the voices carry the devotional weight together.
Gospel is a crowded field in South Africa, yet a secular vocalist crossing into it with a full choir is a real statement. As the lead single from INHLAWULO, the song previews the spiritual direction of the album and positions Mlindo in a different lane.
