Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has teamed up with singer Olivetheboy for a new record titled “Cold.”

The release is the second single pulled from Sarkodie’s forthcoming DeJaVu EP. It puts two different generations of Ghanaian talent on one song, and that pairing is the draw here.

What the record offers is a straight contrast. Sarkodie handles the rap side with the sharp, distinctive delivery he has built his name on. Olivetheboy comes in with smooth vocals rooted in contemporary Afrobeats. Neither artist is playing against type, so the meeting point is the interesting part. Hip-hop and Afrobeats sit side by side rather than one bending to fit the other.

For Sarkodie, working across musical backgrounds is familiar ground. This single also adds another name to a long list of collaborators. For Olivetheboy, it is another entry in a catalogue that keeps growing, this time beside an established figure in African music.

Listeners who have followed Sarkodie’s run of collaborations will recognise the pattern here. Still, hearing him trade space with a newer voice is its own thing.
