U2 have shared “Silencio,” the first new music from the Irish rock band in years, arriving ahead of their sixteenth studio album.
“Silencio” came out on September 24, 2026, with the album set for November 13, 2026. Jacknife Lee produced the single, and Ryan Tedder added extra production.
The Edge usually builds his parts around shimmering delay. Here he strips that back for something sharper, while Larry Mullen Jr.’s drumming drives with a neo-punk urgency. Both choices push U2 away from the anthemic rock they built their name on.
Lee and Tedder bring different instincts to the same room. One knows the band’s studio language after years beside them, while the other writes for the pop charts. That mix explains why “Silencio” sounds leaner than expected.
U2 formed in Dublin in 1976, and they have sold more than 145 million albums worldwide across a long career.
