JayJayy and W4DE keep the Sgija flame burning on “Gaido,” the final cut from their joint EP 2SPIN. The track lands as the fourth and last song on the four-track project, and it closes things with real energy.
Smoove and Mdeshkayro also appear on the record, adding depth to the instrumental. The song runs four minutes and thirty-one seconds, with JayJayy credited as the lyricist and the vocal delivered in Zulu. Gallo Record Company handles the release.
The song follows “Jaiva uJuluke,” which opened the EP with Mordecai. That project also features Uncool MC and Slyzza Rsa, so the lineup stays stacked throughout. JayJayy has kept a heavy schedule, because her debut album Detour arrived earlier this year with twelve tracks.
What works here is the restraint in the vocal. JayJayy rides the log drum instead of fighting it, and the delivery stays loose enough to breathe. That choice suits the underground Sgija texture running through the whole EP.
