Mr Real closes out his Real Movement EP with “Onaba 2.0,” a three-way link-up with DennyB and DanDizzy. The track sits sixth on the six-song project, so it carries the weight of a closer.
What makes the record interesting is how the writing splits the load. Nobody gets a throwaway verse here. Mr Real holds the centre with his street-pop foundation, while DennyB brings an Afropop touch and DanDizzy supplies the rap energy. Three temperaments, one beat.
That setup suits Mr Real because he has never sounded uncomfortable sharing a track. The Lagos-raised artist broke out years back with “Legbegbe,” and he has kept his name moving since, including a recent single called “Put In Work.” Real Movement marks another step in that run.
DennyB and DanDizzy also get real room to work. They are not decoration on this one. Each guest pulls the song somewhere different, and the transitions between sections hold because of it. The closing stretch lands with intent rather than just fading out.
