Small Doctor and Emini Myson link up on a new street record titled “Part One,” built for Nigerian music fans. The pairing trades energy over indigenous rhythms, the kind of sound that fits Afrobeats listeners and anyone who follows the everyday street culture Small Doctor has long represented.

There is no word yet on a project or production credits attached to the release. So the focus stays on the pairing itself. Fans who have waited on new material from the street-pop act finally have something to argue about.

Small Doctor, born Temitope Adekunle, is a Nigerian street-pop artist tied to Lagos’s grassroots scene. He rose to fame in 2012 when his mixtapes and freestyles went viral. Later came the album “Street Ambassador,” which carried hits like “Mosquito Killer.”

Bringing Emini Myson along gives the song a second voice to bounce off. That decision opens the record up beyond one man’s usual crowd. It also keeps Small Doctor in the conversation while listeners wait on a fuller body of work.
